The sun was shinning when we woke at ACDC glamping, it had been battering down through the night so we had some breakfast to let the tent dry off a bit. We then took the shammy to ensure fully dry before packing it away. When we set off we were surprised at how beautiful the moray firth coastline was. The first section we hit was full of winding up and down roads amoung rich green fields. Each wee village had a little harbour or beach. We popped down to the first one, nestle in between the cliffs and got the drone up. We could have stopped at many but we just didn’t have the time. We got so many smiles and waves. Straight to Portsoy to try the ice cream shop recommended by Dechlans teacher and understand why, it was delicious. On the way back to the tuktuks we had a few people approach us. Matthew and Dee had been in the shop we parked outside. They chatted away, sat inside and took lots of interest in what we were doing. Gave us some good advice about some nice places to visit (if we had time). Matthew even made a YouTube video. He did catch me off guard, but I have spoken to so many people about the charity it just rolled off my tongue, thankfully. The gerousity of people has been amazing. The kindness continued today when we popped into Regency Garage between Ianstown and Buckie. We topped up jerry cans and fuel tanks, and he wouldn’t take a penny for the fuel, absolutely kindness right there. My faith in human kindness is definitely being restored. Onto Hopeman for some lunch at wee hatch down by the beech. Again, the lady gave us some free cake and took photos to share with the harbour community. The drive towards Inverness felt like the longest drive so far without stopping. We drove through Lossiemouth and saw all the planes at the RAF base. The main roads were busy so we took a lot of back roads and it was tiring. Stopped off at tesco Inverness to fuel up and get a little break. Aware of the time nearing rush hour, we headed back pretty quickly in the pouring rain over the Kessock bridge and along to fortrose Bay. We arrived just after high tide. The owners told us any chance of seeing the dolphins may have passed but there was still a little chance but we would have to go now. We decided to just pitch the tent later and walked along to channory point. No dolphins but it was nice to get the legs stretched after such a long day on the road. Once tent was pitched we headed for a chippy, all very tired and needing a good night’s rest. First night we have all really felt the strain.
