Day 11 Glencoe to Tarbert

After a good rest it was time to get back on the up. Another night of heavy rain and another wet tent. You all know the drill by now :-). Tent away, the sun was out and the views around were incredible. Mountains  and rivers all around us. This site really does give you some amazing views from every corner of its 22 acres. Good songs blasting from the tuktuks, we set off. Today felt like a good day. The sun was finally out and it felt warm. Off we headed towards Oban, on route we stopped off for fuel at Ledaig Leisure. We spoke to some Germans who were visiting the area. Lots of people chatting and interested in what and why we were doing the trip, taking pictures. So awareness was spreading but donations weren’t coming in and had slowed down a bit. We still hadn’t hit our just giving target. I was feeling a bit disheartened but that changed when we went to pay for the fuel bill. A local gentleman had paid our fuel bil. Not only that he had also told us he had just spoken to a friend who was a journalist with the Oban Times. We were to go there when we got to Oban. Just goes to show how things can change so quickly. Off we headed on route to Oban. The views were just incredible. The mirror like water reflecting the landscape of the land and all the little fishing and sailing boats.  We arrived in Oban and it was so busy. We headed straight to the offices where we had an interview and some pictures taken and gave the lady a hurl in the tuktuk. We then headed into Oban for some well needed time to just explore. We headed into a bar restaurant for dinner and opted to sit outside. Myself and Bobby had our branded tshirts on and a guy spotted Ellen macarthur and asked what we were doing. He said he loved her and after his meal he came to the table and handed us a donation. Delighted, we finished off our lunch and went for a stroll around Oban before heading back to the tuktuks. It was such a lovely day and such a busy place but despite leaving the tubs out for donations they were empty :-(. Never mind, it had been a good day for spreading awareness, as the tuktuks got lots of attention and waves. We set off heading further south towards Tarbert. I was surprised by the lovely winding roads along the lush green landscape. It was a long 50miles drive down. We stopped at Lochgilphead  and by then, my back was aching and tiredness hit again. We were soon in Tarbet just after 5 and headed to our accommodation for the night which was The Gather pods in Tarbert. Once familiar with the site facilities we headed back to main street to see if the Ellen Macarthur Cancer Trust fleet of boats were in yet. Just as we got there, we could see they were just mooring up. Giving them time to settle we headed for a walk up the castle ruins. We drove along to let the young people see the tuktuks that wanted to and I bumped into a few familiar faced from the trust, so got a little catch up. We were soon back at The Gather cooking some spaghetti/beans on toast in their kitchen facilities. Showers all round and time to get settled for the night as we have an early rise tomorrow to catch the ferry to Portavardie
